Tribe Falls in Series Finale at Campbell

BUIES CREEK, N.C. — An early four-run lead was not enough as William & Mary baseball fell to Campbell 8-5 in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Jim Perry Stadium.

W&M (5-9, 0-3 CAA) scored the game's first runs when Matthew Kosuda blasted a two-run home run in the first inning. Jackson Woolwine scored on the play, having drawn a leadoff walk.

Starter Luke Calveric worked out of trouble in the first, stranding two runners in scoring position with one out, retiring Jonah Oster and Andrew Keller in succession.

The Tribe added to its lead in the top of the second when Jamie Laskofski placed a double to right center that scored Charlie Iriotakis and Chase Ecker for a 4-0 lead.

Calveric departed the game with one out in the third inning. Jack Pye came in to relieve and worked out of a bases-loaded jam, allowing just one run before retiring the side on a flyout.

Campbell (7-7, 3-0) rallied in the fourth inning, scoring four runs including a game-tying three-run homer by Joey Morton. The Fighting Camels took the lead in the sixth with an RBI single from Joe Simpson.

The Camels added a pair of insurance runs in the seventh inning. In the top of the ninth, Anthony Greco hit his first home run of the season as he cleared the right-field wall to trim the deficit to 8-5. Campbell pitcher Jett Music would retire the final two batters to earn the save.

Owen Simmons earned the win for Campbell while Pye was charged with the loss for W&M.

Ecker went 2-for-3 in the loss with a double and a run. Laskofski was 2-for-4, scoring a run.
