Tribe Falls to James Madison in Tight 4–3 Match

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary women's tennis dropped a tightly contested match to James Madison, 4–3, on Friday afternoon at the Mackesy Tennis Center at the Millie West Courts.

The loss moves the Tribe to 7–3 overall, while the Dukes improve to 7–6 on the season.

William & Mary secured the doubles point by winning two of the three matches. Alexia Gonzalez-Galino and Mira Kernagis earned a 6–1 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Emma Pell and Yaelle Vaissaud added a 6–4 win at No. 3. James Madison's Brooklyn Hoffmann and Sophie Williams picked up a 6–0 decision at No. 1, but the Tribe's wins on the other two courts secured the early lead.

In singles play, the Dukes rallied to claim four courts and the team victory. Francesca Davis earned a straight-set 6–4, 6–0 win at No. 3 singles, while Emma Pell battled back for a three-set victory at No. 6, 1–6, 6–4, 6–4.

James Madison earned singles wins at the No. 1, No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 positions to clinch the match.

William & Mary returns to action on Sunday, March 8, when it hosts Drexel in a Coastal Athletic Association matchup. First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Mackesy Tennis Center at the Millie West Courts in Williamsburg, Va.
