Tribe Secures 6–1 Home Victory Over Norfolk State

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary men's tennis earned its second-straight victory with a 6–1 win over Norfolk State on Wednesday evening at the Mackesy Tennis Center at the Millie West Courts.

The win improves the Tribe to 5–4 on the season, while the Spartans fall to 2–5 overall.

William & Mary secured the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3. Oliver Hague and Gur Trakhtenberg opened the match with a 6–3 win over Szymon Janzen and Szymon Malecki at the top spot, while Nikita Bortnichek and Dylan Chou followed with a 6–2 triumph against Kasper Kulpa and Dominik Simunovic at No. 3. The No. 2 doubles match between Albert Hansen and Theo Nilsson against Marcin Andrzejczak and Marcin Dojczynski went unfinished.

In singles play, the Tribe claimed five of six matches to seal the team victory.

Trakhtenberg delivered a dominant performance at No. 1 singles, defeating Patryk Kowal, 6–2, 6–1. Hague followed with a 6–4, 6–4 victory over Andrzejczak at No. 2.

Chou added another point at No. 4 singles, battling to a three-set win over Janzen, 6–4, 4–6, 6–3. Hansen earned a straight-set victory at No. 5, topping Simunovic, 6–2, 7–5.

Raz Katz closed out the scoring for the Tribe at No. 6 singles, rallying for a 5–7, 6–2, 10–2 win over Dojczynski in a third-set tiebreak.

Norfolk State's lone point came at No. 3 singles, where Malecki defeated Bortnichek, 7–5, 6–2.
