WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary men's tennis bounced back in dominant fashion with a 7–0 sweep of Hampton on Saturday afternoon at the Mackesy Tennis Center at the Millie West Courts.
The victory improves the Tribe to 7–8 overall and 1–2 in Coastal Athletic Association play, while the Pirates fall to 3–7 on the season.
William & Mary controlled the match from the start, sweeping all three doubles courts to secure the opening point. The No. 1 duo of Gur Trakhtenberg and Oliver Hague earned a 6–3 win, while Albert Hansen and Theo Nilsson followed with a 6–2 victory at No. 2. Nikita Bortnichek and Raz Katz completed the sweep with a 6–1 win at No. 3.
The Tribe carried that momentum into singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets to complete the shutout.
At the top of the lineup, Trakhtenberg posted a 6–4, 6–4 victory at No. 1, while Hague continued his strong season with a 6–3, 6–1 win at No. 2. Bortnichek followed with a 6–1, 6–3 decision at No. 3, and Austin Cohen added a 6–3, 6–3 victory at No. 4.
Hansen was dominant at No. 5, earning a 6–0, 6–2 win, while Katz capped the match with a 6–0, 6–1 victory at No. 6.
Hague has been a steady force for the Tribe this season, improving to 13–6 overall and 12–2 in dual match play, while Trakhtenberg moved to 11–9 on the year and 9–5 in dual competition.
The win marks William & Mary's second sweep of the season and its sixth home victory, improving to 6–3 in Williamsburg.
