WILMINGTON, N.C. — William & Mary women's tennis picked up a 5–2 road victory over UNC Wilmington on Thursday at the UNCW Tennis Complex.
The win improves the Tribe to 9–3 overall and 3–0 in Coastal Athletic Association play, while the Seahawks fall to 3-3 on the season.
William & Mary secured the doubles point by winning two of the three matches. Mira Kernagis and Alexia Gonzalez-Galino opened with a 6–2 victory over Lucia Gomez and Simay Keles at No. 2 doubles, before Emma Pell and Yaelle Vaissaud added a 6–2 win against Alicia Eberwein and Sophia Catino at the No. 3 spot.
The Tribe carried that momentum into singles play, winning four matches to seal the team victory.
Francesca Davis battled through a three-set match to defeat Katelyn Hubbard, 6–0, 4–6, 7–5, at No. 3 singles. Mira Kernagis followed with a convincing 6–1, 6–3 victory over Lucia Gomez at the No. 4 position.
Rebeka Svabikova also earned a hard-fought three-set win, rallying past Alex Borcich, 2–6, 6–4, 10–7, at No. 5 singles. Alexia Gonzalez-Galino added the Tribe's fourth singles point with a 6–0, 6–4 victory over Gabbie Glickstein at No. 6.
UNC Wilmington claimed its two points with straight-set wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles.
