Tribe Falls 4–3 to Penn State in Neutral-Site Match

LYNCHBURG, Va. — William & Mary men's tennis battled to the wire Saturday afternoon but came up just short in a 4–3 loss to Penn State at a neutral-site match in Lynchburg, Va.

The setback moves the Tribe to 0–1 on the season, while the Nittany Lions improve to 7–0 in dual play.

William & Mary secured the doubles point with wins at the top and bottom of the lineup. Oliver Hague and Gur Trakhtenberg earned a 6–4 victory at No. 1, while Nikita Bortnichek and Dylan Chou posted a 6–4 win at No. 3. Penn State claimed the No. 2 doubles match to keep the point close.

The Tribe carried that momentum into singles play, earning two victories across the lineup. Trakhtenberg rallied for a three-set win at No. 1, Hague cruised to a straight-set victory at No. 2 before Penn State countered with singles wins at the remaining positions to narrowly clinch the match
