TOWSON, Md. — Kyah Smith scored a game-high 14 points and Cassidy Geddes added 11 as William & Mary women's basketball earned a 52–51 road conference victory over Towson on Friday night at SECU Arena.
The victory lifts the Tribe to 12–9 overall and 5–5 in CAA play, while the Tigers fall to 12–10 on the season and 5–5 in conference action. The win marked William & Mary's first at SECU Arena since 2020.
Monet Dance finished with 10 points and eight rebounds, while Alexa Mikeska filled the stat sheet with six points, 11 rebounds, four assists and two steals. Natalie Fox added four points and six boards, and Marley Long chipped in four off the bench.
William & Mary shot 32.8 percent (21-of-64) from the field and forced 17 Towson turnovers, turning them into 11 points. Towson also shot 32.8 percent (19-of-58) in the contest.
First Quarter
Towson opened the game with an early scoring run and built a small advantage, but the Tribe stayed within reach behind baskets from Geddes and Dance. William & Mary closed the quarter strong, trailing just 16–14 after the opening 10 minutes.
Second Quarter
The Tigers briefly extended their lead early in the second, but Smith provided a spark with a pair of baskets, while Mikeska controlled the glass on both ends. The Tribe continued to chip away and went into halftime down 31–28.
Third Quarter
William & Mary came out of the locker room with increased defensive pressure and took its first lead midway through the quarter. The teams traded baskets throughout the period, setting up a dramatic finish. With time expiring, Smith drilled a jumper at the buzzer to give the Tribe a 42–41 edge heading into the final quarter.
Fourth Quarter
The final period featured multiple lead changes in a tightly contested battle. Smith connected on a key three-pointer midway through the quarter to push the Tribe in front, and William & Mary made several defensive stops down the stretch. Towson pulled within one in the final minute, but the Tribe held firm defensively to secure the one-point road win.
