TOWSON, Md. — William & Mary women's tennis earned its first CAA victory of the season on Saturday afternoon, defeating Towson, 5–2, at the Tiger Tennis Complex.
The win improves the Tribe to 7–2 overall and 1–0 in Coastal Athletic Association play, while the Tigers fall to 4–4.
William & Mary secured the doubles point by sweeping all three courts. Francesca Davis and Tilda Larsson edged Kiersten Tambe and Chandre Boshoff, 7–6, at No. 1 doubles. Alexia Gonzalez-Galino and Mira Kernagis followed with a 6–4 victory at No. 2, while Emma Pell and Yaelle Vaissaud completed the sweep with a 6–3 win at No. 3.
In singles play, the Tribe claimed four courts to clinch the team victory.
Sia Chaudry earned a 6–3, 6–2 win at No. 1 singles. Kernagis added a straight-set 6–2, 6–3 decision at No. 3, and Gonzalez-Galino controlled her match at No. 5, 6–3, 6–1. Pell rounded out the scoring with a 6–2, 6–3 victory at No. 6.
Towson picked up wins at No. 2 and No. 4 singles, but the Tribe's sweep in doubles and depth throughout the lineup proved decisive.
