WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary women's tennis earned a 6–1 victory over Howard on Saturday afternoon at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.
The win moves the Tribe to 3–1 on the season, while the Bison fall to 0–3 overall.
William & Mary secured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Francesca Davis and Tilda Larsson rolled to a 6–1 victory at the top spot, while Rebeka Svabikova and Yaelle Vaissaud posted a 6–2 win at No. 3. The No. 2 doubles match featuring Alexia Gonzalez-Galino and Mira Kernagis was left unfinished.
The Tribe carried that momentum into singles play, claiming five of six matches.
At No. 1, Sia Chaudry earned a straight-set win, 6–4, 7–5. Davis added a 6–1, 6–4 victory at No. 3, while Kernagis won by opponent retirement at No. 4 after taking the opening set. Svabikova was dominant at No. 5, 6–1, 6–2, and Gonzalez-Galino cruised to a 6–0, 6–1 triumph at No. 6.
Howard picked up its lone point at No. 2 singles in a tightly contested three-set match.
