Lax Dominates Longwood, 20-5, in Home Opener

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary lacrosse team earned a convincing 20-5 victory against Longwood in its home opener at Martin Family Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

After limiting Longwood (0-2) to just two goals during the opening 30 minutes en route to building a 7-2 halftime advantage, W&M (1-1) outscored the Lancers 13-3 during the final two quarters to secure the lopsided non-conference win.

The Tribe's impressive goal total marked the program's highest scoring output since 2022 when it earned a 20-15 win at Campbell.

Additionally, the defensive performance marked the fewest goals allowed by W&M since 2020 when it defeated Old Dominion, 11-4.

Grace Walter (3g, 2a), Mila Millhouse (3g, 1a) and Taylor McCall (3g) all recorded hat tricks to lead the Tribe offensively, as the trio was among a group of 11 W&M standouts who found the back of the cage.

Aubrey Roth also came up big with five points (2g, 3a), while Finley Hoffman and Nora Begley provided two goals apiece.

Chloe Babich totaled a game-high eight draw controls, which was just one shy from breaking into W&M's single-game top-10 list.

Jaylin Locke and Sophie Busam added two caused turnovers apiece to lead an impressive defensive effort.

W&M outshot LU, 44-12, which included a 34-8 margin on goal.

Additionally, the Tribe owned a 14-13 edge in draw control and a 21-12 advantage in ground balls.

W&M also committed 12 fewer turnovers (8-20).

Alexandra Hirst led the Lancers with three points (2g, 1a) and six draw controls, while goalie Isabella McCullough totaled 14 saves in 45 minutes of action.

The Tribe will return to action when it hosts Richmond at Martin Family Stadium on Wednesday at 5 p.m. The contest will be W&M's Harlem Lacrosse Game.
