WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary volleyball fell in straight sets to North Carolina A&T (22-25, 22-25, 12-25) on Friday evening at Kaplan Arena.
The Tribe (5-9, 1-4 CAA) kept the opening set within reach and pulled even at 21-21 on
Devereaux Hoxsie's kill, but the Aggies (6-10, 1-4) took the next two points and stayed in front.
Olivia Westfort and
Sophia Van Name were part of a balanced attack for the Green and Gold, but the set finished with A&T taking it 25-22.
The Tribe pushed back in the second set after falling behind 17-12, using late kills from Westfort,
Katherine Arnason and
Teagan Pocius to get within 22-20. W&M also led 9-5 earlier after an
Audrey Brcka kill, but A&T moved in front and held on to take the set 25-22.
In the third set, Green and Gold could not overcome the Aggies' seven-point run which made it 17-7. Hoxsie supplied two late kills for W&M, but the Aggies closed out the third set, 25-12.
STAT NUGGETS
- Westfort had eight total blocks, including 3 solo. She also added eight kills for 13.5 points.
- Hoxsie paced the Tribe with nine kills, hitting .368.
- Hatfield recorded 17 assists.
- Horejsi collected 13 digs.
