ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The William & Mary men's gymnastics team placed third at the Navy Open on Saturday afternoon.
The host Mids claimed the team title with a 309.3 and were followed by Springfield (302.8) and W&M (291.35).
Luke Tully highlighted W&M's individual performances with a trio of top-three finishes, as he tied for first on floor (13.55), tied for second on vault (13.9) and placed third on high bar (13.15). He was also the meet's lone all-arounder and totaled a 76.15.
Led by
Mark Fu's winning score of 13.0 on parallel bars, Tribe gymnasts swept the top three spots in the event as a pair of freshmen –
Nicholas Kosarikov (12.85) and
Brayden Bates (12.8) – also medaled.
Ricky Pizem came up big on high bar and finished second with a 13.2, while he was also W&M's top scorer on pommel horse (12.25).
Jonathan Irwin led the Tribe on rings and narrowly missed out on a top-three finish with a 12.9.
As a team, the Tribe posted the meet's top scores in a pair of events – parallel bars (50.05) and high bar (51.15).
