WEST POINT, N.Y. – The William & Mary men's gymnastics team opened the 2026 season with a fifth-place finish at the West Point Open hosted by Army on Friday evening.
Penn State claimed the team title with a 313.5 and was followed by Army (306.65), Navy (302.55), Springfield (301.0), W&M (294.6) and Simpson (294.3).
Highlighting the Tribe's individual performances were five gymnasts who advanced to
Saturday's individual event finals (7 p.m.) with top-eight finishes.
Gavin Zborowski led the way and earned a spot in two events with career highs on pommel horse (13.2) and high bar (12.9), while
Ricky Pizem also qualified in multiple events (vault, 13.75; high bar, 12.85).
Connor Barrow (vault, 14.15),
Nicholas Kosarikov (parallel bars, 13.2) and
Luke Tully (high bar, 13.1) also advanced.
Tully's performance on high bar tied for the second-best score in the event, while Barrow's score on vault was the third-highest mark.
W&M's five qualifiers matches the program's highest total since 2019, while the seven routines in the finals are the Tribe's most since equaling that figure in 2018.
Tully was W&M's top all-arounder and placed sixth with a 75.1, while Kosarikov also competed in all six events (73.4).
As a team, W&M posted the meet's second-best score on vault (54.85) and third-best mark on parallel bars (50.45).
