WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - William & Mary field hockey dropped a 4-0 contest to No. 5-ranked Liberty on Sunday afternoon at Busch Field.

Alexandra de Jesus tallied her third double-digit save game of the season for the Tribe (1-7). She posted 12 stops against the Flames, the second most in in her career.Â

Liberty (7-1) scored once each in the first two quarters to take a 2-0 lead into the locker room. A Dara Semmartin goal off a penalty corner in the sixth minute opened the scoring. Lou Combrinck found the back of the cage from the right side of the penalty area in the second quarter to double the visitor's lead.

The Flames scored twice in the opening five minutes of the third quarter to provide the final margin. Avery Pollock extended the lead to 3-0 with a goal just 1:46 into the second half, before Combrinck tallied her second marker of the game at the 35:07 mark. Her initial shot of the sequence off a penalty corner was blocked by de Jesus, but Combrinck jumped on the rebound and lifted into the goal.

The Tribe's best chance came in the 37th minute off a penalty corner. Junior
Emme Schwartz took the Initial shot from the left side of the area but a Liberty defender blocked it. The rebound fell to junior
Ellen Ford on the left side, but her shot was lifted into the outside netting of the goal.

W&M opens CAA play on Friday, Oct. 3, when it welcomes Northeastern to Busch Field. The game carries a 2 p.m. start time and it will be broadcast on FloCollege.
