RALEIGH, N.C.—The No. 2 NC State Wolfpack got the better the of the William & Mary men's soccer team on Tuesday night in Raleigh, earning a 7-0 win over the Tribe.
The Wolfpack attack showed why they had earned their best ranking in school history, quickly generating chances.
After an early save from
Jack Gorman for the Tribe, NC State found the back of the net in the 3
rd minute. The hosts would tack on a trio of insurance goals over the next 25 minutes and take a 4-0 lead to the half.
Coming out of the halftime break the Tribe did their best to generate an attack, with
Sam Delgado and
Gabe Ruitenberg each putting a shot on net in the first 20 minutes of the half. Ruitenberg's effort was a header from nine yards out that required a diving save from the NC State keeper.
The Wolfpack added a trio of goals in the final 45 minutes to earn a 7-0 win.
W&M returns to conference action on Saturday, hosting Elon at 7 p.m.
