CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The William & Mary football team fell at Virginia, 55-16, on Saturday afternoon.
UVA (2-1) jumped out to 21-0 lead early in the second quarter before W&M (1-2) got on the scoreboard with a 79-yard touchdown pass from quarterback

After closing the half with three unanswered touchdowns to lead 42-7 at the break, the Cavaliers extended the margin with a touchdown and field goal to open the third quarter.
Quarterback
Noah Brannock posted his first career touchdown with a 6-yard scamper late in the third quarter, while the Tribe added a safety on an errant punt snap in the final stanza.
In addition to his touchdown, Thompson posted five receptions for 108 yards, while Brannock rushed for 35 yards with a score and threw for 111 yards during the second half.
Defensively, linebacker
Luke Banbury totaled a team-high nine tackles with a PBU, while cornerback
Ethan Yip tallied six stops with two pass breakups. Cornerback
Trevon Cannon registered his first career interception – marking the 13th consecutive game in which W&M has forced a turnover.
Running back Harrison Waylee (151 rushing yards, 3 TD) and Noah Vaughn (101 rushing yards) led the Cavaliers' offensive attack, while quarterbacks Chandler Morris (149 passing yards, TD) and Daniel Kaelin (164 passing yards) combined to throw for more than 300 yards through the air.
In addition to forcing a turnover for the 13th straight contest, W&M did not commit any turnovers and was penalized just twice for 11 yards.
The Tribe will return to action when it hosts Charleston Southern at Zable Stadium next Saturday at 4 p.m. The contest will be part of W&M's Hall of Fame Weekend.
