Women's Soccer Falls to JMU

HARRISONBURG, Va.-- James Madison (3-1-1, 0-0-0) took care of home field with a 4-0 victory over William & Mary women's soccer (1-3-1, 0-0-0) on Thursday at Sentara Park, with the Dukes scoring twice in each half.

The first half saw the Tribe actively challenging the Dukes' defense, with Mia Abbey taking multiple shots early, including one in the 12th minute that tested the JMU goalkeeper but was saved.

Another early chance by Abbey was blocked off a pass from Ivey Crain, showcasing the Tribe's aggressive start.

Despite these efforts, JMU capitalized on their opportunities, scoring twice with goals in the 24th minute and 30th minute. The first strike came via a header off a free kick while the second goal was off a rebound in the middle of the box.

Gwen Doughty made a pair of stops in the first 45 minutes for W&M.

The second half began with William & Mary's defensive unit staving off early pressure from the Dukes, demonstrating their resilience. The hosts kept the pressure up however and, despite strong saves from Doughty in the 79th and 84th minute, were able to add two more insurance goals in the 68th minute and 82nd minute resulting in the 4-0 scoreline.

Shots favored the Dukes on the evening, 13-7.

The Tribe will next be in action on Sunday hosting American. The match is set for 1 p.m. at Martin Family Stadium on FloCollege. W&M will honor its eight seniors prior to the game.
