Baseball Falls to Northeastern Saturday

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary fell to Northeastern 15-1 on Saturday afternoon at Plumeri Park in game two of the series.

HOW IT HAPPENED
W&M starter Zach Boyd held Northeastern (40-9, 21-2 CAA) scoreless in the first, working around a two-out walk and stranding a runner in scoring position with three flyball outs.

Center fielder Ben Parker wasted no time getting the Tribe (20-29, 13-10) going in the bottom of the first, sending a leadoff triple down the right field line. Third baseman Jamie Laskofski drove Parker in with a sacrifice fly to put W&M ahead 1-0.

Parker went 2-for-4 with two extra-base hits in the loss.

Boyd faced the minimum in the top of the second, retiring the Huskies in order.

After two scoreless innings, the Huskies broke the game open with a four-spot in the fourth. The visitors added one more in the fifth on a bases-loaded hit by pitch, increasing their lead to 5-1.

Northeastern took advantage of a pair of W&M errors in the sixth to plate two unearned runs. The visitors tacked on seven more runs in the ninth inning en route to the win.
