RICHMOND, Va. – William & Mary men's tennis dropped its road match against former CAA rival VCU, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon at the Thalhimer Tennis Center.
How it Happened
- After VCU picked up a win at the top doubles spot, senior
Sean Joseph and freshman
Gur Trakhtenberg pulled the Tribe (5-11) even with a win at No. 2. The duo pushed its mark to 6-3 on the year with a 6-4 win over Nicolo Consonni and Gevorg Mnatsakanyan.
- The Rams (9-9) though clinched the initial point of the match with a narrow 6-4 win at the No. 3 doubles post.
- In singles action, VCU tallied straight sets wins at five of the six position to cement the team triumph.
- At No. 4,
Albert Hansen jumped out to a set advantage, downing Kostiantyn Mantach in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (5). Hansen took a 4-3 lead in the second set before Mantach retired. The Tribe junior won his eighth match of the season and third at No. 4.

The Tribe returns to action when it hits the road for a pair of matches next week. W&M travels to Georgetown on Friday, April 11, at 10:45 p.m., before heading to Philadelphia on Saturday, April 12, for a key CAA match-up against Drexel at noon.
