Baseball Shut Out By Elon in Series Finale

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — The William & Mary baseball was shut out in the series finale against Elon on Sunday at Plumeri Park, falling to the Phoenix 10-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Elon (11-20, 3-6 CAA) got out to a hot start with six runs in the first inning, knocking W&M starter Ryan Feczko out of the game.

The Tribe (12-19, 6-3) made some noise in the bottom of the third when center fielder Ben Parker hit a one-out double. Left fielder Carmichael followed up with a single to put runners on the corners, but a fly out would end the threat.

Parker added another base hit in the fifth, part of a 2-for-4 day. The Tribe got two runners on in the inning but couldn't score.

The Phoenix scored two runs in the fourth inning before adding one each in the fourth and fifth.

Elon starter Declan Lavelle got the win, tossing a complete game. Feczko was tagged with the loss for W&M.

STAT NUGGETS
  • With base hits, Parker and Carmichael extended each of their hitting streaks to 17 games. That ties Joe Delossantos' 17-game streak in 2023 for the longest by a Tribe hitter in at least 10 years.
  • Right fielder Christian Rush went 2-for-3.
  • The Tribe had eight hits as a team.
  • W&M did not commit an error.

UP NEXT
The Tribe will visit Duke on Tuesday. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. on ACCNX.
