NEWARK, Del. – The William & Mary lacrosse team concluded its CAA road slate with a 17-4 setback at Delaware on Saturday afternoon.
The Blue Hens (10-5, 6-2) jumped out to a 7-1 advantage in the first quarter and extended the margin to 10-2 by halftime.
Both teams traded goals to start the second half, but UD outscored the Tribe, 6-1, during the remainder of the contest to secure the league victory and extend its winning streak to five games.
Kate Draddy (1g, 1a) and
Anna Dawson (1g, 1a) led W&M (5-9, 1-6) with two points apiece, while
Paige Gilbert and
Alexis Savage also found the back of the cage. Gilbert and
Chloe Babich added a team-high three draw controls apiece.
Defensively,
Claire Doto posted two caused turnovers with two ground balls, while
Jaylin Locke registered three ground balls.
UD outshot W&M, 35-19, which included a 26-11 margin in attempts on goal.
The Blue Hens also owned advantages in draw controls (16-9) and ground balls (14-13).
Both teams committed 11 turnovers apiece.
Ella Rishko (3g, 2a) and Delaney McDaniel (2g, 3a) led Delaware with five points apiece, while Halen Saroney (3g, 1a) and Morgan Gore (3g) also provide offensive production. Rishko added four draw controls, two caused turnovers and two ground balls.
W&M will return to action when it concludes its non-conference slate at East Carolina on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
