Tribe Overcomes Four-Run Deficit to Top Campbell, 8-5

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Jamie Laskofski's first career home run sparked a rally and helped William & Mary overcome a four-run deficit as they topped Campbell 8-5 on Saturday afternoon at Plumeri Park.

Laskofski went 3-for-5 on the day, adding two RBI, including the game-tying homer in the fifth. Center fielder Ben Parker also had a three-hit performance.

The Tribe (14-24, 8-6 CAA) got five shutout innings from its bullpen to even the series.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Campbell (16-22, 7-7) raced out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning as Joey Morton hit a three-run homer.

W&M got on the board on the bottom of the second when first baseman Anthony Greco blasted a leadoff home run to make it 4-1. The home team cut further into the deficit in the third as Laskofski laced an RBI double down the right field line to score Parker.

Parker got aboard via a leadoff double, extending his hitting streak to 24 games.

The Camels responded with a solo home run of their own in the fourth to go ahead 5-2. In the home half of the frame, Parker picked up his teammates again when he singled through the right side to drive in two runs.

Greco's leadoff single was a catalyst to the rally. The sophomore went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

LHP Nick Lottchea took over for starter Zach Boyd in the fifth and put up a zero, getting help from a lineout doubleplay. Boyd went four innings and struck out four in his start.

The Tribe tied the contest in the bottom of the fifth when Laskofski went deep for the first time in the Green & Gold.

W&M would take the lead in the bottom of the inning with three runs, all via the wild pitch. DH Charlie Iriotakis singled before shortstop Owen Wilson and Parker drew back-to-back walks. The Tribe then scored on three consecutive wild pitches to go ahead 8-5.

Campbell loaded the bases with two outs in the seventh. However, RHP Carter Lovasz was able to hold down the fort as he got a fly out to left to preserve the three-run lead.

Parker added another double in the seventh, part of a 3-for-4 day. The Los Altos, Calif. native added two runs, two RBI, and a walk, reaching base three times.

Lovasz faced the minimum in the eighth, adding two more punchouts. In the ninth, after surrendering a leadoff single, Lovasz got help from his first baseman Greco, who turned an unassisted lineout double play.

A groundout to shortstop ended the game as Lovasz earned a nine-out save.

Lottchea was the winning pitcher for W&M with his two scoreless innings. Mason Smith was charged with the loss for Campbell.
