MANHATTAN, Kan. — The William & Mary baseball team was unable to contain the Kansas State offense as they fell to the Wildcats 20-6 in the series finale on Sunday at Tointon Family Stadium.
Shortstop Owen Wilson collected a season-high three hits, going 3-for-4 with two runs. Center fielder Ben Parker and third baseman Derek Holmes both went yard, hitting two-run homers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tribe (4-11) got their first lead of the series when DH Charlie Iriotakis punched an RBI single through the right side to score Lucas Carmichael.
After Kansas State (9-5) scored a pair in the bottom of the first, W&M went ahead on a two-run home run by Parker, scoring Wilson, for a 3-2 lead.
The Wildcats had the answer with a four-spot in the second. KSU scored in every frame, including nine runs in the decisive fifth inning.
In the top of the fifth, Holmes went deep with a two-run shot to left center. It was his first longball of the season.
The Tribe continued to battle despite the deficit, getting a run in the sixth on a bases-loaded walk to right fielder Christian Rush. KSU tacked on three runs in the sixth to account for the final margin.
