WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary women's tennis won its fifth match in a row on Wednesday afternoon with a 4-3 win over Fordham.
The Tribe (11-2) secured the double point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3, including the clincher from freshman

Emma Fernald in a tiebreaker. Following up with singles wins by senior
Alessandra Anghel on court 2, sophomore
Francesca Davis on court 5, and senior
Ine Stange on court 4, W&M secured the victory despite Fordham (8-4) winning the final three singles matches off the court.
How It Happened
- Davis and Anghel won the first match of the afternoon in doubles at the No. 2 spot. The pair defeated Lorraine Bergmann and Lily Chitambar, 6-1, to improve to 11-2 overall.
- Following a Fordham win at No. 1, Kernagis and Fernald provided the clinching doubles win on court 3, topping Padilla Udaeta and Ueno Dalmonico, 7-6 (3). The duo extended its five-match win streak to improve to 10-6 overall.
- Anghel opened singles with a straight-set, 6-2, 6-2, victory on court 2 over Julianne Nguyen to give the Tribe a 2-0 lead. Anghel also extended her five-match win streak to move to 18-8 on the year with 10 victories at No. 2.
- Davis followed her doubles partner with a three-set comeback victory at the No. 5 spot, defeating Fordham's Lily Chitambar, 1-6, 6-1, 6-1. Davis, having won her last five matches, improves to 11-2 in dual-match play with a team-high 21 singles victories overall.
- Stange clinched the win for the Tribe with her 6-2, 7-5 victory over Paola Ueno Dalmonico on court 4. The senior advanced to 9-3 this season in dual-match play and has won five in a row.
- The Rams picked up wins at No. 1, No. 3, and No. 6, including two in three sets, to close the gap to the final margin of 4-3.
