Rhode Island Out-Slugs Tribe in Series Finale

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary baseball team dropped the series finale to Rhode Island on Saturday afternoon by a 36-22 final score.

Left fielder Lucas Carmichael went 4-for-5 with five RBI in the loss, scoring three runs. The Tribe (1-2) got a three-run go-ahead homer in the second inning from right fielder Christian Rush, part of a 10-run frame.

However, Rhode Island (2-1) proved too much for W&M on offense, scoring in each inning.

Center fielder Ben Parker added three hits and three runs for the home team. First baseman Charlie Iriotakis plated four, while pinch-hitter Jerry Barnes III tacked on a three-run home run in the fifth inning.

Freshman Jamie Laskofski reached base four times and scored as many runs. Derek Holmes had a multi-hit day, going 2-for-2 with a double.

Parker Aikens was the winning pitcher for the visiting Rams, while Nick Lottchea took the loss for the Tribe.
