WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary fell to Old Dominion 56-53 in non-conference action at Kaplan Arena on Sunday afternoon in a game that featured six ties.
The Tribe (1-3) opened the game with a strong defensive presence, highlighted by
Jana Sallman's key block at 9:46. Despite trailing early after an 8–2 run by Old Dominion (3-1), W&M responded with an 8–1 rally, taking the lead at 1:34 with a layup by Sallman. The home team maintained its momentum, finishing the first quarter ahead 12–9.
W&M briefly regained momentum in the second quarter when
Dynasti Pierce drained a three at 8:38, assisted by
Ari Mercado, giving them a 15–11 lead. However, the Monarchs responded with efficient shooting and capitalized on turnovers to take control of the game. The quarter concluded with the Green and Gold trailing 27–21, as Old Dominion outscored them 18–9 in the frame.
The Tribe gained momentum in the third quarter by capitalizing on turnovers and executing a strong fast-break strategy. Dance led the charge with key steals and layups, contributing significantly to the home team's offensive efforts. A pivotal moment occurred when
