Tribe Sweeps Hampton on Friday

HAMPTON, Va. — William & Mary secured a decisive victory over Hampton with a 3-0 sweep on Friday night at Holland Hall for its second straight win. The Tribe dominated with a .333 hitting percentage.

William & Mary (11-15, 6-9 CAA) started the first set with consistent offensive execution. After an early exchange of points, Katherine Arnason delivered a series of impactful kills, assisted by Beatriz Silva, to establish a lead at 4-3. The Green and Gold then built momentum with a 6-0 run, highlighted by Audrey Brcka's attacking and Silva's service ace, pushing the score to 16-7.

The set continued with W&M extending their advantage through efficient blocking and additional kills from Brcka and Arnason. Despite a brief response from the Pirates, the Tribe maintained control. Devereaux Hoxsie contributed crucial points near the end, and Brcka secured the set with a final kill, closing at 25-14.

W&M initiated the second set with a strong service ace from Silva, setting the tone for an early lead. The visitors capitalized on several Pirates errors and kills by Silva and Arnason to extend their advantage to 7-1. Nicole Smith and Kaitlyn Dunnigan contributed with key plays to maintain momentum as W&M built a comfortable lead.

Despite a series of points from Hampton, including kills by Katerina Pappa and Racquel Frazier, the Tribe continued to press forward. Hoxsie and Sophia Van Name delivered clutch kills, supported by effective assists from Silva. A service error by Hampton (1-25, 0-15) closed the set, allowing W&M to secure the set with a 25-20 finish.

The Tribe began the third set with a strong offensive showing, quickly establishing a 2-0 lead with a kill by Silva and a block by Hoxsie and Ryann Love. The visitors maintained momentum with a series of kills by Smith and Brcka, extending their lead to 5-2.

Midway through the set, W&M capitalized on multiple attack errors by Hampton, widening the gap to 13-8. Silva continued to contribute significantly, facilitating kills and taking advantage of the Pirates' errors, pushing the score to 16-8 in favor of the visitors.

In the closing stages, W&M secured the set with a series of decisive plays, including a block by Van Name and Olivia Westfort, and a final kill from Van Name. The Tribe closed the set with a 25-15 victory, completing the sweep with a comfortable margin.
