WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary women's soccer dominated Hampton 4-0 on Sunday at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field.
With the victory, the Tribe not only showcased a strong offensive performance by netting three goals in the second half but also clinched home field for the CAA quarterfinals on Thursday against Elon at 7 p.m.
The Tribe's defense held Hampton to just one shot on goal, resulting in a shutout.
The match began with William & Mary taking an aggressive approach against Hampton, controlling the early minutes with multiple shots on goal.
Mia Abbey broke through at 16:23, scoring with an assist from
Sheridan Brummett, giving William & Mary a 1-0 lead.
Despite several more attempts, including a shot by
Ivey Crain that was saved, the first half concluded with the Tribe holding a 1-0 advantage over Hampton.
W&M continued to control in the second half, capitalizing on offensive opportunities with three goals.
Paige Seitz opened the scoring in the 79th minute, assisted by Crain, to extend their lead.
Crain found the net again shortly after, and Seitz added her second of the game with an assist from
Molly Widderich, solidifying their advantage.
The half concluded with the Tribe maintaining a commanding position, finishing the match with a 4-0 victory over the Pirates.
Seitz recorded two goals, with both attempts on target, contributing significantly to the team's offensive efforts. Abbey scored one goal and led the team with six shots, all of which were on goal, including the game-winning goal. Crain added both a goal and an assist, while also taking three shots, two of which were on target.
