Women's Soccer Rolls Past Huskies, 3-0

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary women's soccer secured a decisive 3-0 victory over Northeastern on Thursday at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field. 

The Tribe dominated with 26 shots, 14 on target, while keeping a clean sheet. Gwen Doughty registered three saves, ensuring the shutout, as the team capitalized with two first-half goals and added another in the second half. 

The first period began with William & Mary establishing control early on, with Ivey Crain taking several shots on goal. Despite multiple attempts being saved by Northeastern's goalkeeper, Crain broke through in the 29th minute with a goal assisted by Madison Moon and Mia Abbey. Just over a minute later, Sheridan Brummett extended the lead with a goal, assisted by Lindsay Wilson.

William & Mary maintained offensive pressure with continuous shots on goal, though several were thwarted by the keeper and the woodwork. The period closed with William & Mary holding a 2-0 lead, reflecting their persistent offensive efforts and successful execution.

William & Mary capitalized early in the second half, with Nora Green-Orset scoring in the 47th minute off a corner from Ella Ledwith, extending the lead to 3-0. 

The team maintained offensive pressure with multiple corner kicks and shots on goal, though additional attempts by Crain and Ellie Leffler were thwarted by Northeastern's defense.

Defensively, the Green and Gold held strong, with Doughty making key saves against shots from the Huskies to preserve the advantage. The Tribe controlled the pace for the remainder of the period, securing a 3-0 victory at the final whistle.

Seven different players recorded points on the evening for W&M, as Julie Shackford's squad collected its fifth straight home win.

Trying to move one step closer to earning a postseason berth, W&M will host Monmouth on Sunday, Oct. 19. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field in Williamsburg, Va.
