WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Campbell defeated William & Mary men's soccer 4-0 on Saturday at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field.
The first half began with a setback for the Green and Gold as Campbell scored in the opening minute.
Despite the early deficit, the Tribe sought opportunities to respond, with
Sam Delgado and
Evan Rabush each taking shots that ultimately did not find the net.
As the half progressed, the Camels extended their lead to 3-0. Goalkeeper
Ryan Eapen was active for the Tribe, recording multiple saves throughout the half.
The second half began with the Tribe attempting to shift the momentum. Eapen made critical saves in the 47th minute, and added another stop in the 70th. Despite these defensive efforts, Campbell managed to extend their lead with a goal in the 75th minute.
W&M continued to press forward, generating opportunities including a shot by Delgado that went over the top.
Alex Garrison also challenged Campbell's goalkeeper with a shot towards the bottom right in the 88th minute. However, the Camels maintained their advantage, closing out the match with a 4-0 win
Eapen recorded a career-high 12 saves across 90 minutes, facing 21 shots.
The next challenge for the Green and Gold is a journey to Philadelphia, Pa., where they will face Penn on October 14. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
