WILLIAMSBURG, Va.— William & Mary women's basketball head coach,
Erin Dickerson Davis, announced the program's nonconference schedule on Monday.
The Tribe is coming off back-to-back winning seasons during Davis' first two years as head coach, the first time W&M has posted two consecutive winning marks since 2020. The Tribe has also recorded a 12-6 record in CAA play during both campaigns under Davis, tying the program record for conference wins in a season.
The Green and Gold's 2024-25 nonconference slate features 11 games with two at Kaplan Arena, six on the road and three at a multi-team event hosted by Longwood.
Davis' squad will open their season for the second consecutive year against local foe Norfolk State, traveling to battle the Spartans on Nov. 4.
The Tribe will then fly across the country for a pair of games in the Golden State, visiting Long Beach State (Nov. 9) and UC Irvine (Nov. 11). The matchups will be the first time W&M has played in California since 2004, when they played the in the Odwalla Classic in San Francisco.
The meeting with Irvine will be the third ever, while the meeting with Long Beach State will be just the second. The only other matchup between the Tribe and the Beach came at a neutral site in 2000.
Upon returning to Williamsburg, W&M will have their home opener against Division II Chowan on Nov. 14 before hopping on I-64 West to take on Richmond, Nov. 20, at the Robbins Center. After not playing each other a year ago, it will be the 117
th meeting between the Tribe and Spiders.
The following week the Green and Gold makes their second trip of the season to Norfolk, facing Commonwealth rival Old Dominion on Nov. 26.
Later that week the Tribe welcomes in Howard for their second home game of the season Nov. 29. The Tribe will be looking to extend a six-game win streak over the Bison that dates back to 2003.
W&M will travel to a multi-team event at Longwood on Dec. 6-8, playing three games in three days in Farmville, Va.
The Tribe will take on McNeese State, Longwood and South Carolina State over the three-day period. W&M beat the host Lancers 86-49 in Williamsburg last season, while the meeting with McNeese State will be the first in program history. The only prior meeting between the Tribe and South Carolina State came in 1980.
The final game of the nonconference will see W&M take on Maryland in College Park on Dec. 19. This will be the second consecutive season that the Tribe finishes off their non-league slate against a power-five opponent, having played Virginia Tech last year. The matchup will be the second ever meeting between the Tribe and Terrapins.
Davis' squad returns eight players who saw significant minutes from a season ago, while adding three incoming freshman and two transfers.
