Lucas Carmichael doubled down the first baseline to lead off the game for W&M and
Ben Parker followed with his first of three walks.
Joe Delossantos wasted no time in getting runs on the board, bringing in Parker on a single ripped through the left side. Jackson followed suit with an RBI single of his own.
Goranson belted a massive 433-foot home run to dead center, scoring three more to give the Tribe a 6-0 advantage through one.
The Bobcats got their first across in the second frame, but W&M had a fast answer in the bottom of the frame. Delossantos sent a towering ball to left field which fell just short of the wall for a double. After stealing third, he added another run for the Tribe on a wild pitch.
In the third and fourth innings, Quinnipiac made a comeback effort, cutting the Tribe lead to one, 7-6, on five runs as the Tribe looked to respond in the bottom of the fourth.
Getting a pair back in the Tribe's half of the inning, Barnes nearly cleared the wall, bouncing a double off the top of the fence to score Parker and Delossantos.
Hindy and Pierce shut down the Bobcats for the remainder of the contest, allowing no hits through the final five innings of play.
In the sixth inning, Jackson belted a first-pitch double to right field, coming around to score on a pair of Bobcat errors for the lone run of the inning.

Nate Goranson walked to put two men on for Trigiani. Putting barrel to ball on the first pitch he saw, Trigiani belted the Tribe's second three-run homer of the day to give the Green & Gold a 14-6 lead.
Adding two more in the eighth inning, a fielding error allowed
Josiah Seguin to cross the plate after reaching base on a walk and a Goranson RBI single drove
