Men's Tennis Picks Up First Win of the Year, Downing JMU, 5-2

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary picked up its first win of the year, upending in-state foe James Madison, 5-2, at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center on Saturday morning.
 
The Tribe (1-2) claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2, before ripping off four singles wins in straight sets to dispatch of the Dukes. Graduate students Alexandre Leblanc (No. 1) and Satchel Benn (No. 3), sophomore Albert Hansen (No. 6) and freshman Oliver Hague (No. 4) tallied singles victories in the win over JMU (1-4).
 
How it Happened
- The Tribe jumped out to a 1-0 advantage behind wins at the top two doubles positions.
- Benn and Hague gave W&M the early lead with a 6-2 win over Julian Lozano and Youssef Sadek on line two. The duo won for the fifth time this season and first in dual-match play.
- The graduate student tandem of Konstantinos Raptis and Bill Duo clinched the initial point of the match with a 6-3 triumph over Esteve Agusti and Aathreya Mahesh at the top spot. Raptis and Duo won their second straight to up their mark to 2-1.  
- The Tribe won the first four singles matches off the court in straight sets to pick up its first victory of the season.
- Benn and Hague increased the Tribe advantage to 3-0 with wins at No. 3 and No. 4. Benn won his eighth match of the year, upending Esteve Agusti, 6-4, 6-1, on line three, while Hague notched his team-leading 11th win over Markus Giersiepen, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 4.
- Hansen clinched the team triumph, dropping just two games in a win at No. 6. He rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Harrison Lee, improving to 6-4 on the season.
- Leblanc notched his 10th win overall and second at No. 1 to round out the Tribe singles victories. He downed Julian Lozano, 7-6 (3), 6-4, at the top spot.
