WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary turned in a dominant performance on Sunday afternoon with a 7-0 win over George Mason at the McCormack-Naglesen Tennis Center.
W&M (4-4) swept doubles and then won all six singles matches, including five in straight sets. Graduate students

Francesca Davis (No. 6) each notched singles wins in the contest with the Patriots (1-5).
How It Happened
- The Tribe swept the three doubles positions to take a 1-0 lead and dropped just six total games.
- Chen and Fernald made quick work of Lauren Splett and Brooklyn Siegel in a 6-2 win at the top spot to start the Tribe blitz. It was the duo's fifth win of the year and fourth at No. 1.
- Davis and sophomore
Yaelle Vaissaud clinched the initial point of the match with a 6-1 win over Avleen Waraich and Mailys Faur at No. 3. The pair improved to 4-2 in dual-match play.
- Gurholt and Stange rounded out the Tribe sweep, topping Ruju Chauhan and Cenan Liu, 6-3, at No. 2. They moved to 5-3 overall and 4-2 on line two.
- Chen did not drop a game in dominating at the No. 2 spot. She downed Maitree Diksha Rout, 6-0, 6-0, for her second-straight victory. She improved to 9-5 overall and 3-0 at No. 2.
- Davis picked up the Tribe's third point of the day. She dropped only two games in a convincing 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Jenin Alasadi at No. 6. Davis won her ninth singles match of the season and improved to 5-1 in dual-match action.
- Gurholt cemented the Tribe win with a strong performance at the top post. She nearly matched Chen, dropping only a game in a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Emily Wirt. The Tribe junior ran her record to 15-3 overall and 6-1 in dual-match action.
- Mejia and Stange posted straight-set wins at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, to continue the Tribe's onslaught. Mejia picked up her sixth win of the season, bouncing Lauren Splett, 6-0, 6-4, while Stange upended Lakshya Motam, 7-5, 6-0, for her seventh victory of the season.
- Fernald rounded out the Tribe sweep with a three-set win over Dana Edson at No. 5. After dropping the opening set, the Tribe junior bounced back with a 6-0 win in the second and took the third-set super breaker, 10-2, for her seventh win of the year.

The Tribe hits the road for a pair of matches in North Carolina next week. W&M travels to No. 61 Charlotte on Saturday, March 2, before heading to East Carolina on Sunday, March 3. Both matches carry 11 a.m. start times.
