WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary field hockey returns home for a pair of matches this weekend. The Tribe hosts CAA rival Delaware on Friday, Oct. 11, at 5 p.m., before welcoming in-state foe VCU to Williamsburg on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 1 p.m. Friday's CAA match-up will be streamed on FloLive.
Clear Bag Policy
William & Mary Athletics, in conjunction with the William & Mary Police Department, has implemented a
clear
bag policy that regulates the size and type of
bag that may be carried into W&M Athletics facilities during the 2024-25 year, including Busch Field, Kaplan Arena, Martin Family Stadium, Plumeri Park, and Zable Stadium. Information as well as approved and prohibited items is available at

- Graduate student goalkeeper
Maddie George leads the CAA and ranks second nationally in saves per game at 10.1 per contest. She has recorded double-digit save efforts in six of her 10 games this season. George tallied a season-high 15 saves, the second most of her career, against Harvard. Following a 12-save performance at No. 3 Virginia on Sept. 29, she moved to No. 5 on the Tribe's career saves list (322).

Pyper Friedman and
Sara Bartzen and junior
Erin Griffin lead the Tribe with two goals apiece on the season. Bartzen has scored two goals in the Tribe's last three games, while Griffin recorded her second of the year in the Tribe's last outing at Northeastern. Friedman scored W&M's first two goals of the season against Richmond and Old Dominion. The Tribe trio ranks 19th in the CAA in goals this season.

Mollie Schuma and senior
Kellen Richbourg are tied for the team lead in assists with two each. Richbourg has an assist in two of the program's last three games, while Schuma recorded her second at Northeastern. They rank 18th in the CAA in assists on the season.
- As a team, the Tribe leads the CAA and ranks second nationally with seven defensive saves on the season. Individually, junior
Emme Schwartz ranks second in the CAA and sixth nationally with three defensive saves.
- George ranks among the top Tribe goalkeepers in school history. She currently ranks fifth in saves (322), seventh in saves per game (5.19) and shutouts (9), eighth in wins (24), 14th in save % (.717), and 20th in GAA (2.23).
- Delaware, which is 3-0 in the CAA this season, leads the all-time series with the Tribe at 22-11. The series is even at five in games played in Williamsburg. Last season, the Tribe tallied a 3-1 win over the Blue Hens in Newark.
- W&M owns a 57-12 advantage in the series history with VCU, including a 27-4 mark in Williamsburg. The Tribe has won each of the last two in the series in overtime. The last four matches in the series have ended in 1-0 score lines.
- The Tribe has played a challenging schedule in 2024 with half of its games coming against teams in the national top 20. W&M faced off against No. 3 Virginia, No. 5 Duke, No. 8 Harvard, No. 12 Liberty, and No. 18 Old Dominion.
- Prior to the season, George and Friedman were both named to the 13-player preseason All-CAA team, while sophomore
Josie Mae Gruendel was one of seven players named to the honorable mention list.
- The Tribe had five players compete at the 2024 Senior Nexus Championship (NXC), presented by Osaka Hockey at the Virginia Beach Regional Training Center in Virginia Beach, Va., from July 14-16. George, Friedman, Richbourg, Schwartz and Gruendel were among 144 elite collegiate and post-collegiate athletes selected to take part in the annual event.
- Last season, Friedman became the 14th Tribe player to be named the NFHCA All-America team. She was a third team choice after posting 24 points and eight goals and eight assists. Friedman leads active Tribe players with 13 career goals.
