Field Hockey Wraps Up Home Slate with Pink Game and Senior Day

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary field hockey has an action-packed home weekend with two games at Busch Field. The Tribe faces Drexel on Friday, Oct. 25, at 5 p.m. for the program's Pink Game, before wrapping up the weekend welcoming in-state foe Longwood to Williamsburg for Senior Day at noon.
 
Friday will be W&M's Pink Match
, as the team will raise money and support for Here for the Girls. Fans who make a donation in any amount at the game (cash only) will receive a Pink W&M t-shirt. Fans are encouraged to visit the table at the entrance to Busch Field to fill out "I Wear Pink For" signs to honor anyone impacted by breast cancer.  Fans can also make donations online at Here for the Girls.
 
Prior to the start of Sunday's home finale, W&M will honor its graduating class of Alyssa Tollaksen, Pyper Friedman, Kellen Richbourg, Sara Bartzen, Olivia Stocks, Maddie George, Mollie Schuma, and Maddie McGaughey. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to celebrate the Tribe's graduating student-athletes before the Green and Gold meets Longwood.

r Bag Policy

William & Mary Athletics, in conjunction with the William & Mary Police Department, has implemented a clear bag policy that regulates the size and type of bag that may be carried into W&M Athletics facilities during the 2024-25 year, including Busch Field, Kaplan Arena, Martin Family Stadium, Plumeri Park, and Zable Stadium. Tribe News and Notes
- W&M has won seven of the last nine contests with Drexel, including a 2-0 win in the CAA Semifinals last season. The Tribe holds a 15-10 advantage in the all-time series, including a 9-4 margin in Williamsburg.
 
- The Tribe leads the all-time series with Longwood at 24-19-4, but the Lancers have won the last two meetings. The last time the teams met, Longwood tallied a 4-3 win in Williamsburg in 2021.
 
- Senior Kellen Richbourg scored both Tribe goals in the victory over Delaware on Oct. 11. It was her first career brace and the first game-winning goal of her career. For her efforts, Richbourg was named the CAA co-Offensive Player of the Week. In CAA play, Richbourg is tied for the league lead in goals (2) and ranks fourth in points (5).
 
- Graduate student goalkeeper Maddie George was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career on Oct 14. She posted a nine-save performance in a victory over Delaware. The victory moved George into seventh on the program's all-time wins list. In the Tribe's match on Oct. 13 vs. VCU, George notched double-digit saves for the seventh time in 11 matches with 11.

- George leads the CAA and ranks second nationally in saves per game at 10.08. For the year, she has 121 saves, which are the most for a W&M goalkeeper since 2002. George also ranks third in the CAA and 25th nationally in save % at 74.7.

- George ranks among the top Tribe goalkeepers in school history. She currently ranks fifth in saves (342), seventh in saves per game (5.34), wins (24), and shutouts (9), 12th in save % (.725), and 20th in GAA (2.16). Among active DI players, George ranks fourth nationally in career saves.
 
- In the Tribe's win over Delaware on Oct. 11, senior midfielder Pyper Friedman assisted on the game-winner. It was her first assist of the season, and the 14th of her career. The 14 assists rank 18th in program history. Friedman, who has two goals on the season, leads active W&M players with 13 career goals.
  
- As a team, the Tribe leads the CAA and ranks eighth nationally with seven defensive saves on the season. Individually, junior Emme Schwartz ranks second in the CAA and 10th nationally with three defensive saves.

- The Tribe has played a challenging schedule in 2024 with five games coming against teams in the national top 20. W&M faced off against No. 3 Virginia, No. 5 Duke, No. 8 Harvard, No. 12 Liberty, and No. 18 Old Dominion previously this season.
