RICHMOND, Va. – William & Mary junior
Lindsay Kahren was named the CAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
Kahren also received the weekly league honor on Sept. 30, following the Tribe's matches with Stony Brook. She shared the honor this week with Charleston's Tynley Smeltzer.
The Tribe libero helped in leading the Tribe to a weekend sweep of defending CAA Champion Delaware. Kahren turned in an impressive 54 digs, averaging 6.75 per set in the Tribe's two four-set victories. It marked the first time since 2015 that W&M swept the season series with the Blue Hens.
In the first Tribe win of the weekend on Saturday, Kahren recorded a career-high 32 digs to go along with seven assists. The 32 digs are the fifth most in a four-set match in school history, the 13th most overall in program history and the most for a Tribe player since 2009. On a national level, it is the 12th-most in the country this season for a four-set match. On Sunday, Kahren posted 22 digs to go with six assists and two aces.
On the year, Kahren leads the Tribe with 238 digs and a 3.40 per set average. In CAA play, she ranks third in the league in total digs (148) and fourth in digs per set (4.63).
The Tribe returns to action with a road trip of Charleston for a pair of matches this weekend. W&M faces the Cougars at 6 p.m. on Friday, before closing out the weekend in the Palmetto State at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Both matches will be broadcast on FloVolleyball.
