Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Nationally Ranked Hofstra Outlasts Men's Soccer

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.— The William & Mary men's soccer team battled Mother Nature and No. 24 Hofstra on Saturday evening, losing the away match 2-1.

Played under rainy conditions, the match got off to a sleepy start, with neither team recording a shot in the opening 12 minutes.

As the half wore on the game turned more physical, with the Tribe committing six fouls in the first 30 minutes, while Hofstra committed three fouls. By games end the two sides combined for 24 fouls.

Eventually the nationally ranked Pride got offensive opportunities, taking the game's first eight shots, with only one testing Cole McNally in net. The game headed to the half tied 0-0.

Hofstra came out aggressive in the second half, with McNally picking up two saves on four shots early in the frame. After the Tribe tried to counter with a Lucas Caldas shot that went wide, the Pride broke the tie in the 61st minute, going up 1-0.

W&M earned their first shot on goal moments later via Aidan Morrison and kept the pressure up to equalize the game in the 68th minute.

Ian Krajna scored his first career goal to pull the Tribe even and earn his fourth and fifth points on the season.

McNally was called backed into action in the 69th minute, making back-to-back saves to keep the game tied at one.

The Hofstra attack proved to be too much at day's end, taking 10 shots down the stretch and scoring in the 87th minute to earn a 2-1 win.

The Pride controlled the shot total by a 23-7 margin and earned eight corners to the Tribe's three.

Cole McNally made seven saves.
