WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Former William & Mary football head coach Jimmye Laycock and All-America offensive lineman Joe Montgomery will highlight a distinguished group of honorees at the
2023 Virginia Sports Hall of Fame Induction Weekend celebration on April 21 & 22 in Virginia Beach.
One of the most successful head coaches in the history of college football, Laycock will be inducted into the Hall of Fame after a legendary career that included 249 victories, seven conference championships and 10 NCAA FCS Playoff appearances – all of which came at his alma mater.
Montgomery will be presented with the Distinguished Virginian Award, which is bestowed upon an individual who through sports has brought great pride to the Commonwealth based on outstanding life accomplishment. Each awardee, by personal example, exemplifies the best ideals and purposes of sport exhibiting superior leadership qualities in education, athletics, business and in the community.
