ARLINGTON, Texas – Former William & Mary standout safety Marcus Barnes was selected by the Columbus Aviators during
day two of the 2026 United Football League (UFL) Draft.
The Aviators enter their inaugural season in the
UFL this spring.
A two-time All-CAA selection with the Tribe, Barnes tied for first in the conference and ranked seventh nationally in interceptions (4) as a senior in 2024. Additionally, he tied for third in the CAA with 11 passes defended while also totaling 69 tackles and two forced fumbles.
The Jeannette, Pa., native finished his career with 38 starts and ranks just outside W&M's all-time top-10 lists in interceptions (9) and passes defended (33).
Barnes, who earned a rookie minicamp invite by the Cincinnati Bengals last spring, joins a group of six former Tribe standouts who are currently on professional rosters Charles Grant (Raiders), Nate Lynn (Titans), Bill Murray (Colts), Luke Rhodes (Colts), Colby Sorsdal (Lions) and Owen Wright (Buccaneers).
