Ragone, Williamson Homer in Win Over George Washington

WILLIAMSBURG, VA. - Ben Williamson and Cole Ragone each had two hits and a solo shot as the Tribe downed George Washington 5-2 Tuesday evening at Plumeri Park. Nate Knowles picked up his fourth win of the season and Carter Lovasz earned his sixth save.

Nick Lottchea started on the hill for the Tribe and worked a scoreless first before giving way to Knowles who struck out three and allowed just one run over 2.0 innings of work. Zach Tsakounis threw the middle innings and did not allow an earned run. The lefty struck out a pair and allowed two hits over 3.0 innings of work. Lovasz was fantastic over the final three frames, striking out five and allowing just two hits.

The Colonials opened up the scoring behind a two-out rally in the third. George Washington took advantage of a pair of singles and two free passes to take the 1-0 edge but it would not last long as Williamson launched a 3-2 pitch deep over the wall in left center to tie the game in the Tribe half of the third. Moments later Nate Goranson walked and scored on a two-out single from Tank Yaghoubi

The Tribe added to the lead in the fourth as Corey Adams led off the frame with a single and scored on a fielder's choice from Williamson. Ragone blasted a 3-1 pitch over the scoreboard in left for his sixth homer of the season to give the Tribe a three-run lead.

George Washington chipped away at the William & Mary lead in the sixth. The Colonials loaded the bases on an error, a walk, and a single with no outs, before Tsakounis retired the next three outs, surrendering one earned run in the process to make it a 4-2 game.

The Tribe added on in the home half of the seventh as Adams lifted a sac fly to bring in Joe Delossantos and once again make it a three-run game. Lovasz would shutdown the Colonial offense, striking out four over his final two innings of work to preserve the win.

Up Next: The Tribe will be back at Plumeri Park Friday evening to kick off a pivotal three-game series with Delaware.
