GRASONVILLE, Md. – William & Mary women's golf placed three players among the top 20 and finished sixth as a team at The Women's Intercollegiate at Prospect Bay on Sunday afternoon.
 
Senior Mikah McDonnell and freshman Simone Senk each finished in a share of 12th place, while freshman Avery Thompson came in 16th. The finish was the best of the season for both McDonnell and Senk.
 
The event was originally slated for 54 holes, but was cut back to 36 holes due to rain on day one of the tournament on Saturday.
 
McDonnell and Senk both shot matching scores over the two rounds with 77s on Saturday and 78s on Sunday. Senk led the Tribe and ranked fourth in the tournament field with four birdies. She was also fifth in par 4 scoring at 4-over. McDonnell was second in the field in par 5 scoring at 2-under and fifth in pars with 22 over the 36 holes.
 
W&M shot a 627 (+51) over the two days with a 311 in round one and a 316 in round two. Harvard took the team crown at 605 (+29) just four shots ahead of Penn.
 
Thompson earned her third top-20 performance of the season behind her 16th-place showing. Like McDonnell and Senk, she fired a 77 on Saturday before shooting a 79 on Sunday.
 
Graduate student Sarah Houle and freshman Grace Lu both finished in the top 50. Houle, who tied for the team lead with four birdies, shot a 162 to finish in 38th, while Lu was 46th at 163.
 
Up Next
The Tribe next competes in the Colonial Athletic Association Championships, April 14-16. The three-day event will be played at The Clubs at St. James in Southport, N.C.
