WILLIAMSBURG, VA. - Four homers helped lift the Tribe over St. John's 15-6 Saturday afternoon at Plumeri Park.
Cole Ragone smashed a pair of two-run homers, while Ben Willamson and
Joe Delossantos went back to back in the first inning. It was team-leading homer six for Williamson on the season, the fourth for Delossantos and the fourth and fifth for Ragone.
Overall, the Tribe knocked 18 hits. Delossantos and Williamson each had three hits and drove in three runs, while
Lucas Carmichael and
Luca Danos each had two hits.
St. John's jumped out to an early lead as Tate Ballestero took an opposite field two-run homer to left in the first. Williamson followed up with an opposite field homer of his own to even the score in the bottom of the fifth. Delossantos would follow with a homer of his own to give the Tribe the 3-2 lead.
Ragone's two-run shot to open the second inning gave William & Mary a 5-2 lead. After the Johnnies picked up a run on two hits in the fourth Ragone answered with another two-run bomb to extend the lead to 7-3 in the fourth.
The Green and Gold was able to tack on a pair of runs in the fifth as
Corey Adams bashed a single through the right side to score Williamson and Delossantos making it a 9-3 game. The game would break wide open in the sixth as the Tribe scored six on eight hits.
Luca Danos singled twice in the frame, his second plating a pair of runners. Williamson added a double and Delossantos tripled to deep center in the onslaught.
The Johnnies responded with two runs on four hits in the seventh to make it a 15-5 game and added one in the eighth before
Kyle Locklear shut the door in the ninth to give the Tribe the 15-6 win.
