Emma Pell posted strong singles wins, but No. 66 Liberty rallied for a pair of three-set victories to pull out a 5-2 win over William & Mary on Sunday afternoon at the Liberty Tennis Complex.
How It Happened
- Liberty claimed the doubles point thanks to a tiebreaker win at the top position. After a Flames win at No. 3, graduate student

Ine Stange pulled the Tribe even with their sixth-straight win. The No. 35-ranked pair in the country notched a 7-5 win at No. 2 over Maretha Burger and Tiffany Nguyen to remain undefeated at 6-0.
- Pell pulled the Tribe even at one with a quick victory at No. 6. She dropped just two games in a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Elsa Kirch. Pell moved to 9-4 overall and 6-2 in dual-match action.
- After a Liberty win at No. 2, Manolescu tied things up once against with a convincing win at No. 5. She topped Burger, 6-2, 6-2, improving to 8-6 overall and 3-2 on line five.
- With Liberty leading 3-2, the balance of the match came down to three-set matches at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. Sophomore
Hedda Gurholt and Kuzina jumped out to set advantage, but the Flames' Maria Juliana Parra Romero and Tiffany Nguyen rallied for victories to cement the Liberty team triumph.
