Men's Tennis Tops James Madison, 5-2

HARRISONBURG, Va. – William & Mary claimed the doubles point and won four singles matches in topping in-state foe James Madison, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon.
 
Graduate students Joseph Brailovsky, Andres Silva, Bill Duo and Daniel Pellerito each notched singles wins for the Tribe (5-5).
 
How it Happened
- W&M rallied to take the doubles point thanks to victories at No. 1 and No. 3. Senior George Davis and graduate student Bill Duo downed Holden Koons and Aathreya Mahesh, 6-3, at the top spot to pull the Tribe even. The pair improved to 7-4 overall with two wins at No. 1.
- Graduate student Daniel Pellerito and sophomore Alexander Karman clinched the point with a 7-5 win over Youssef Sadek and Canon Secord on line three. The Tribe tandem won its second-straight match and for the fourth time on the year.
- JMU posted wins at No. 1 and No. 5, before W&M answered with straight-set wins at No. 4 and No. 6. In both matches, Duo and Pellerito rallied in the second set. Pellerito downed Mario Pena, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 6 for his 10th victory of the year. Duo topped Youssef Sadek, 6-4, 7-6 (8), at No. 4 for his sixth win of the season.
- With the Tribe leading 3-2, the balance of the match came down to three-set contests at No. 2 and No. 3. Trailing 3-2 in the third set, graduate student Andres Silva rallied to knock off Francisco Sinopoli, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, on line three to clinch the W&M win. It was his seventh victory of the year.
- Graduate student Joseph Brailovsky rounded out the victory with a three-set win at No. 2. He also trailed 3-2 in the third set, before winning the final four games in a 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 triumph. He won his team-leading 14th singles match of the season.
 
Up Next
The Tribe returns to action when it returns home to take on Gardner-Webb on Monday, March 13. The match is slated for a 2 p.m. start at the Mackesy Tennis Center at the Millie West Courts, weather permitting.
