Late Rally Walks Off St. John's

WILLIAMSBURG, VA. - William & Mary scored in the sixth, seventh, and ninth to come back from an early 3-0 deficit to defeat St. John's Friday night at Plumeri Park. A Joe Delossantos infield hit would seal the comeback as the Tribe walked off the Red Storm by a 4-3 score.

Nate Goranson scored the game-winning run putting a cap on his two-hit day that included his second homer of the season. Lucas Carmichael also had a two-hit evening with a pair of doubles.

Rojo Prarie picked up his first win on the season tossing three scoreless innings. Prarie allowed three hits and struck out three over the game's final three innings.

Tom Mayer tossed a strong three middle innings, allowing zero runs and just two hits. Mayer struck out a pair while surrendering zero walks.

After the team's traded scoreless frames for two innings, St. John's jumped on Tribe starter Owen Pierce in the third. A one-out single was followed by back to back home runs by  Tate Ballestero and David Glancy made it 3-0 Red Storm.

The Tribe answered in the bottom half as Goranson answered with a long ball of his own to kick off the frame to cut the Storm's lead to two. Mayer shut down the Storm in the middle three innings, before the Green and Gold struck again in the sixth. A two-out hit from Cole Ragone would plate Corey Adams to make it 3-2.

Carmichael led off the Tribe's half of the seventh with a rocket to left center for his second double of the ballgame and would later score on an RBI from Joe Delossantos to tie the score at 3-3.

Goranson singled to right center to begin the ninth inning and moved to second on a Zach Zertuche sacrifice. The catcher would score on Delossantos' single into the hole at short stop to clinch the victory.
