WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary women's golf sits in sixth place after the opening round of the 19-team Kingsmill Intercollegiate at the Kingsmill Resort River Course. The first round was delayed due to water puddling on the greens from rain and the second round was suspended due to darkness after 15 holes.
 
Round two will resume at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday with round three to follow using the same pairings as the first two rounds.
 
The Tribe finished with a 309 (+21) in the opening round. High Point led the tournament after 18 holes with a 12-over 300 followed by Longwood (305) and Penn (306).
 
Graduate student Sarah Houle and freshmen Simone Senk and Grace Lu led the way for the Tribe, sitting in a share of 11th. All three posted 4-over 76 scores in round one. Senk led the Tribe with four birdies in the opening round and fired a 1-under 35 on the back nine. Lu, playing as an individual, tallied three birdies.
 
Freshman Avery Thompson and senior Mimi Taylor each shot opening-round 6-over 78s. They are tied for 29th after 18 holes.
 
Seniors Mikah McDonnell and Cindy Zhou both ranked among the top half of the field through the opening round. McDonnell was 38th following a 79 (+7), while Zhou posted an 80 (+8) to earn a share of 50th.
