WILLIAMSBURG, VA. - A valiant comeback late in the game was not enough to overcome a 10-run third inning from Monmouth as the Hawks bested the Tribe 14-12 Saturday afternoon at Plumeri Park.
For the second consecutive day,
Joe Delossantos had a four-hit performance with a pair of singles to go with a double and a triple. The center fielder scored twice and drove in four runs.
Ben Williamson was a double short of the cycle, hitting his fifth homer of the year and scoring three times.
Cory Wall started the game on the hill for the Tribe and allowed one run on two hits over two innings pitched.

After Wall retired the Hawks in order in the first, the Tribe jumped on Monmouth to take an early lead. Three consecutive hits from Williamson, Delossantos, and
Max Winters would score a pair for the Green and Gold in the bottom of the first.
A pair of soft singles and a fielder's choice would score a run to get Monmouth on the board in the top half of the second. William & Mary immediately answered as doubles from
Cole Ragone and Delossantos brought home three to make it 5-1 Tribe in the second.
The Hawks would utilize seven hits, a pair of walks, and an error to put up 10 in the top of the third. Lucas Carmicheal led off the bottom half of the fourth with a walk to lead up to Williamson's two-run shot to dead center, cutting the deficit to four.
Monmouth was able to plate a pair of runs of two hits to extend the lead back to six in the top half of the sixth. In the bottom half, it was Williamson's leadoff triple followed by a Delossantos single to score the Tribe's eighth run.
Carmichael doubled in Ragone in the bottom of the seventh to make it a 13-9 game and a
Charlie Iriotakis sac fly followed by
Nick Lottchea's RBI single would make it a two-run game before Ragone's second single in two innings brought the Tribe within one. Ragone's second RBI single in two innings brought the Tribe within one.
In the top half of the ninth, a lead off walk would come across for the Hawks to make it a 14-12 game. Williamson, Winters, and
Noah Zertuche would reach in the ninth to load the bases but could not push across the tying runs.
