WILLIAMSBURG, VA. - Three excellent performances on the mound lifted William & Mary past Monmouth Sunday afternoon at Plumeri Park. The 7-1 win gave the Green and Gold a second straight CAA series win.
Tribe starter
Owen Pierce picked up his third win and second of the week, pitching a phenomenal four innings. Pierce allowed a single run on a pair of hits and struck out four while allowing zero free passes.
Tom Mayer tossed innings five through seven, allowing just one base runner over the 3.0 frames. Mayer fanned a pair and induced three ground outs to record his nine outs.
Rojo Prarie tossed the final 2.0 innings of scoreless ball, allowing just two hits. The trio combined to walk zero men.
Joe Delossantos triple in the first plated two runs and was all the offense the Tribe would need on the day. The hit was the center fielder's fourth extra base hit of the weekend.
Pierce retired the Hawks in order before Delossantos put the Tribe on the board in the bottom half of the first. The first two men reached before Delossantos knocked both in on a triple to right center.
Max Winters followed with a single to make it 3-0 before a single out was recorded by Monmouth.
Ben Williamson provided an RBI single in the second to make it a 4-0 game. Monmouth answered in the top of the third, scoring a run on a pair of hits, cutting the Tribe lead back to three. A double steal from
Ryan Bhojwani and Winters scored the team's fifth run in the bottom half of the frame.

Nick Lottchea on a sac fly to right, pushing it to a 6-1 Tribe lead in the bottom of the fifth. After three scoreless frames, the Tribe tacked on in the eighth on doubles from
Cole Ragone and
Lucas Carmichael to make it 7-1.
Up Next: William & Mary will host nationally ranked Campbell Tuesday night at Plumeri Park. The Tribe and Camels will get together for a 6:00 p.m. start in the midweek tilt.
