FARMVILLE, Va. – The William & Mary lacrosse team extended its winning streak to three games with a 14-7 victory at Longwood on Wednesday evening.
W&M (5-4) scored 12 unanswered goals to close the first half and built a comfortable 13-1 lead at the break.
Although the Tribe scored just once in the second half, Longwood (2-5) never got closer than the final margin as W&M cruised to the lopsided non-conference win.
Ten different Tribe players found the back of the cage, as it marked the third consecutive contest in which at least nine W&M players scored at least one goal.
Tribe Standouts
Ainsley Huizenga led the Tribe with her first career hat trick as she scored on all three of her shot attempts. She also added a team-high three draw controls and an assist.
Sarah Cipolla and
Sydney Witwer also came up big offensively with a pair of goals, while
Sam Van Gieson scored once and dished out three assists.
Inside the Numbers
W&M outshot Longwood, 36-22, including a 30-14 advantage in shots on goal.
Both teams posted 11 draw controls, while W&M committed six fewer turnovers (13-19).
The Opposition
Sophia Passa and Kendra DeFilippo led Longwood with two goals apiece, while Lauren Cerretani totaled a game-high four draw controls.
